We serve a community that is in desperate need of the gospel. However, over the years we have become a church that has adopted a philosophy of expecting those in need of the Gospel to come to us. It is time for change. The ministry of Jesus was mobile. The Bible tells us that he traveled spreading the good news of God’s kingdom. (Luke 8:1) As we move forward, a building will no longer be the center of Ministry at Pickett-Rucker. John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist Movement wrote, “I look on all the world as my parish.” We strive to serve the world! Through our weekly meals, community service days, and food pantry we are attempting to serve all those that come to us. But it is time that we venture out and serve those that are not able to reach our doors. Securing a new vehicle for the purpose of expanding the reach of our ministry further into the community is the next step in our response to Jesus’s charge for His church to GO into the world and make disciples.(Matt. 28:19)
